Caroline Ingraham (UK)
Help your dog and cat heal itself with Applied Zoopharmacognosy
Caroline Ingraham founded Applied Zoopharmacognosy and is the leading expert in this field of animal self-medication. She has always had an enormous concern for the ethical treatment of animals and has spent the last three decades researching and observing how animals self-medicate. Caroline has featured in many scientific journals and articles, and has written numerous books on the subject. She has appeared on the BBC, ITV, BBC Radio4, National Geographic TV and at the Hay Festival of Literature and Arts.
At 22 years of age, Caroline studied essential oils for humans with Robert Tisserand, she laterwent on to study the French approach to the scientific use of essential oils with EORC (France) and Biologist Thomas Ingraham. Her work encompasses an understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmacology combined with animal self-medication. Caroline is in demand globally as a consultant and teacher, speaking regularly at International Symposiums.
Zoopharmacognosy (self-medication) is a behaviour that has been employed by animals since the dawn of time; Applied Zoopharmacognosyallows your animal to select remedies as they would in the nature. Domestic and captive animals have the same self-medication abilities as their wild counter-parts. They tend to select remedies, to bring them back to health, that contain the same or similar constituents to those found in their evolutionary history, such as essential oils, clays, algae, macerates and vegetable oils, seaweeds, minerals and other nutrients found in grasses and hedgerow remedies. You may be surprised that behavioural problems such as separation anxiety are often resolved by working with essential oils that address physical problems. Sharing a common language, the language of smell, enables you to reach a new and exciting level of communication with your animal.

Laura Hoy (United Kingdom)
Deepening Self-Care for Practitioners - putting self first and walking the talk
After completing training with Neal's Yard Remedies in 2006 & a Diploma in Aromatherapy & Essential Oil Science, Laura began managing NHR Organic Oils, a company selling the highest quality organic essential oils. One of her favourite parts about this role is communicating with clients about how simply oils can be used to support health, wellbeing & nurturing. This inspired her to start a blog sharing the pure joy of using oils in every day life:www.essentialoilsandyou.co.uk
Throughout this time Laura has developed her way of working with oils. As well as using them as part of her daily rhythm, she makes bespoke blends in various forms, runs workshops & training in the community and for the general public, and acts as a consultant for use of essential oils in the Martlets hospice. As well as practicing aromatherapy for private clients she works in community projects, including dementia cafes, assisted care homes and a hospice.
Even during her studies, Laura became very aware of how important self-care and self responsibly were, especially in the field of health care. Although the importance of looking after your body, especially your hands, was very prominent during this training period, she saw many fellow students injured, and a typical picture of a practitioner and their ailments was presented and often referred to. It made no sense to her to compromise her own health while treating another, so working in a way without push, strain or drive has always been at the core of her way of practicing.
The self-care workshop has developed from a way of living outside the treatment room, which supports what she is able to bring inside the treatment room. It is inspired by Universal Medicine and the Esoteric Practitioners Association of which she is a member.
The self-care workshop is an opportunity to develop a deeper relationship with yourself, honouring your body and what it communicates, and understanding how walking the talk allows for true inspiration for your clients.
This interactive, practical workshop is offered to assist you to truly support yourself and to develop a deeper understanding of the importance of self-care. It will look at revealing what gets in the way of putting self first and how this impacts our whole life, including clients and the quality of service we offer. The workshop will include discussions, group work and practical techniques. By focusing on this important factor (you) improvements to your vitality, workload, confidence, relationships, stress levels and much more, can naturally unfold.
‘The true delivery of service begins first by delivering that same service to self in every way, and to all others by the same manner…’ (Benhayon 2006).

Deby has been involved in Aromatherapy for the past 25 years, is a staunch supporter of Aromatic Medicine in Australia and through her research and studies, has been instrumental in bringing Aromatic Medicine to Australia into a Government accreditation syllabus.
In 2008, Deby purchased Aromatherapy Today international journal which under her direction has become a world-renownedpublication that is regularly referenced in papers and natural therapy texts. Deby’s life revolves around Essential Oils, Herbs and their properties. She continues to spread her knowledge as a Principal and lecturer for the Aminya Natural Therapies Academy, Australia.

It is at this conference that Deby will be launching her new book : “The Aromatic Detox and Elimination Technique” as well as her three day training program in this highly effective technique.
The Aromatic Detox and Elimination Technique (ADET) was developed by Deby Atterby over a period of 15 years, as a result of consultations with her clients and students. She had noticed an increase in persons presenting with compromised immune defences, lethargy, additional ongoing ailments and a distinct lack of vitality and actively sought to find effective and natural treatment strategies to enable them to regain their health, balance and energy. To this end, Deby has integrated different modalities into a sequence of techniques and treatment strategies (ADET) based on her clinical aromatherapy practice sessions and her knowledge and experience of other therapy modalities.
In this workshop, you will learn key aspects of her technique for improving health including:
- The synergistic importance of combining natural, healthy modalities.
- Why the integration of Essential Oils and Herbal extracts is so effective.
- Overviews of Kinesiology, Iridology, Acupressure, Aromatic, Detox and Elimination massage techniques that form the key elements of her treatment protocol.
